Can I bother you for a moment about something that’s been a huge lesson for me this past year? Thanks! 😉
I N T E N T I O N A L I T Y
Too many times I’ve found myself being unintentional- with my diet and exercise routine, my shopping habits, bible study, my words. And too many times I’ve been on the receiving end of someone who was being unintentional with me– whether they know it or not.
When we get to the very bottom of who we are, it depends a whole lot on us being intentional with others, with God, and with ourselves. And when we aren’t, it hurts like no other.
Think about the times where someone has been unintentional with you and all the time and energy it took to move past the hurt and the pain. Think about the people who you’ve been unintentional with and how you’ve felt when you found out. Think about all the things you haven’t been intentional with but wish you were.
Our actions, our words, our l i v e s were meant to be lived with intentionality.
Somehow we have to stop saying things just to say them. We have to stop saying yes and say no so that when we say yes, we will actually mean it. We have to remember that we have an equal opportunity to hurt others, as they do to hurt us.
And we have to do that with, yup- intentionality.
I know it’s not going to happen overnight. I know that years of saying yes and speaking before thinking is not just going to magically disappear. I know that years of saying you’re going to do something and then letting it fall off isn’t exactly easily broken. It’s going to take practice, it’s going to take determination, and it’s going to take a whole lot of grace– which is a whole other Thursday Thought itself! 😉
So what do you say? Let’s start being intentional together.
